Residential care for the elderly is a growing field as the elderly population increases. Direct Support Professionals need knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care. This training program aims to equip these professionals with the tools and resources to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care to elderly residents. Topics covered include safety procedures, communication skills, and legal and ethical considerations. The training is an opportunity for both experienced and new professionals to improve their skills and provide the best care to elderly residents.

PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS

We offer professionally developed courses that keep pace with the ever-changing healthcare services industry in Minnesota.

First Aid and CPR Certification

The First Aid Course teaches people how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This course includes First Aid and CPR with AED instruction. This course is designed for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

  • First Aid & CPR—$65 (approx 5 hours)
  • First Aid Only—$30 (approx 2 hours)
  • CPR Only—$40 (approx 3 hours)
Medication Administration/Management

It is a didactic and practical course for unlicensed personnel who work with individuals needing assistance with their medication. It may include people with developmental disabilities, mobility impairments, mental illness, acquired brain injury, chemical dependency, and elderly populations in residential facilities.

  • $35 (approx 2 hours)
Coaching the Experienced Driver® 3

Coaching the Experienced Driver® 3 program is tailored to drivers like yourself to enhance your skills in detecting and responding appropriately to dangerous driving scenarios. The course consists of video lessons and interactive exercises in a Response Book, all aimed at decreasing the likelihood of a collision.

The Mandt® System

The Mandt System® courses are built around the idea that each individual deserves dignity and respect. The system stresses that relationships should start with mutual decision-making and that positive and negative behavior is a form of communication. It prioritizes proactive care for others and emphasizes learning from past mistakes to strengthen relationships.

The Mandt System® focuses on the following:

  • Establishing positive relationships in the workplace centered around dignity and respect
  • Encouraging proactive approaches to prevent problems
  • Understanding and managing the cycle of crisis, with an emphasis on de-escalation.
Medication Equipment Basics

This course will cover the usage of six of the most common types of medical equipment in residential facilities; Blood Glucose Monitor, Automatic Blood Pressure cuff, Auto-injector for anaphylaxis, CPAP machine for sleep apnea, nebulizer, and mechanical lift for lifting and transferring individuals. This course meets the state guidelines for Medical Equipment Training for Corporate Adult Foster Care Staff.

VA/Maltreatment/Residents Rights

It would be great to have a single class that covers all the essential training for Direct Support Professionals. Well, we’ve done just that! Join us for a day to learn about VA Reporting and Documentation, Consumer Rights, Confidentiality, and more. This type of class also provides additional hours toward the yearly training requirement for various licensed homes.

Our instructors are all full-time Rise Residential Services employees who are experts in their respective topics.
